I recently modified my diy sleepcover, replacing the magnet from 3mm to 8mm disk. The power drain problem resolved!
I suspect the power drain is caused by the tiny magnet that the clara could hardly detect and power was drained away because of repeated switching between sleep and on mode.

I can focus on reading books!
