I actually wonder how they did it. If you are a Windows user you have to know that you also have to add another dot at the end, otherwise Windows Explorer complains about an invalid folder name. Same if you try to modify the name of a directory with a leading dot. And if you use a hidden folder that's already there, then it's probably .kobo which still isn't scanned in the new firmware, is it?
As user of a UNIX style operating system (Linux, OS X, BSD) you probably know that .something means hidden file/folder otherwise you'll wonder whatever happened to all those files or folders that suddenly disappeared over the years...
