Same here. While I use a backlit tablet for various other things, I would never want to read a novel on it. And I've never found any of my Kindles to be super slow, except for the basic Kindles back in 2011, when I crammed them full of books. But not any of the modern Kindles. My Nook is considerably slower, true. But not so slow I don't enjoy reading on it. I'm generally in no hurry when I'm reading.
