I have a Nook Glowlight Plus (2015) I picked up for $50 a couple of years ago and I'm using it a lot- my eyesight isn't what it used to be and would like a larger screen. I'm wondering if this device would be the best for me (I like the idea of being able to load my own apps) or should I just wait for something like the new Glowlight Plus to go on sale? I could have picked up a refurbished Kobo Forma over the weekend for ~$150 but after reading about all the issues with the flickering backlight I decided otherwise.

Not as versatile as Fire 7/8, not as quick as old Kindle 5. I got it for the larger screen, for outside reading --and it works pretty well for that. But it's slow and jerky, page turn is jerky -- just no comparison with respect to performance. It's an overpriced reader, usable but I'd not recommend it with high marks. As I said, Mars mediocre. 3/10 as a reader, 1/10 tablet function.
