I tried the firmware on my H2O v.1 and it's working fine so far, isn't particularly slow. In regards to fullscreen reading, I usually read kepub with the footer hidden and to me, the current space left at the bottom looks perfect - it's exactly what I patch it to be, so I'm very pleased with the result. Once the new firmware version with the smaller space at the top will be in, I think that it will please the vast majority of users - it's aesthetically pleasing now, at least, compared to before when the margins were truly too big no matter how you looked at it. I know that some people like to patch it so that the text goes right to the bezel of the screen but as that is made of a small minority of people and it wouldn't exactly improve readability (though I do realize that preferences exist - I'm not questioning that), I think they've made the right choice.
