It's the price we pay. Fortunately, our old dog is in no hurry to wake up in the morning, though when he DOES, he wants to eat NOW!
That was never a problem when we had cats -- they ate dry food and we simply left it out. They fed themselves in the morning. Of course, if their bowls were empty (the horror!), that meant some serious discussion, led by their chief steward, Priscilla. (Apple-head Siamese.) She'd climb right up the length of me in bed, and then ever so delicately put her paw on my cheek and then just barely extend her claws. The message was unmistakable!
