Same here. But even after opening a book, it doesn't show up in library view mode, just on the 'last read view' (the left icon with the time symbol). In library view the screen is filled with 'Unknown..." entries. If I click on one of them, I get "the file does not exist".
So only way to get to my books is through "structure storage" mode (long clicking on the library view icon).
Have to add that I don't have any books in the "Books" folder, they are either in the Calibre Companion or the Wifi Transfer folder. Enabling scanning over all folders and refreshing the library didn't work. Like in your case, these actions don't have any effect at all.
