That was my initial thought, too, but once I'd read more about The Man Who Played with Fire I decided against that book. The top review is quite useful, noting that the first part of the book contains Stieg Larsson's research, then the second part tells the tale the research uncovered in story form. That reviewer, despite giving the book four stars, said that while much of the book was engrossing there was "too much detail, and too many words". For me personally, that's something I'd never finish, nor enjoy.

That left me with only The Vine Witch, so I also got Quantum in the end, even though I don't like the cliff-hanger ending. It still sounded more palatable than The Man Who Played with Fire.
