Now on Bernhard Schlink's "The Reader", which is not quite the last book I bought (it was a de-DRM experiment that some MobileRead people helped me with a couple of weeks ago) but is at least recent.
It is also excellent - not seen the film yet, and I have no idea how you can film a book which has almost no dialogue, but is full of powerful thoughts and emotions. Highly recommended.
