PD i don´t know if the image is bigger than the limit
Attachments only have file size limits. It is inline that are limited.

I suspect your Margin problem is because of a style Cascade or inline styling
Calibre's Editor: View: Inspector
Allows you to select a block tag (p, div...) and explore the metrics that are applied at that level, and back track thru the nest. Basic CSS knowledge is needed
