Been using Calibre Companion since I got my Tab A,so I just ran a test for you using USB.
Shows 919 on storage A
and 72 on Main Memory

Those numbers look good.
OTOH all the dates (device view) read 31 Dec 1969 (books arrived by CC, not USB )
