Agreed. Not really worth powering off unless it won't be used for months.
Not quite the Kobo but monitored battery drain on the Kindle PW4. Even with sync on and airplane mode off (wifi on), drain was just 8% after 4 weeks on sleep mode.
Frankly, the boot process probably uses more power than being on standby/sleep would.
