My emails still have the cover. Never had the author, at least not that I remember.
Why should you need to prove that you bought something? Back up your purchases, then you don't have to worry that something's going to disappear. I haven't looked at my Amazon content page in years. No idea if anything's missing there, and wouldn't care if there was. I keep the copies of all my books elsewhere.
