As others have stated already, audiobooks and manga are the likely culprit. I use my phone and iPad for those so my Kindle is strictly for reading.
I was tempted to get the 32 GB version for future proofing but realized that was overkill because there's no way I would ever store that many books on it. An 8GB device can hold over 6000 average sized books. I can't even imagine storing 600 books on my Kindle. With E-Ink's slow refresh rate, it would be annoyingly slow to flip through so many titles to find one.
