I don't think that hardback books will ever disappear. I walk into a typical bookstore and still see massive numbers of hardback books.
The one place where electronic books seems to have trouble making a dent is with comic books. I've looked at a few but paper is still the best way to go.

My understanding is that most if not all of those turn tables are unfortunately based on low end mechanisms which have a lot of tracking force though. (Meanwhile retro tape decks are literally all based on the exact same budget mechanism that just happened to survive from the 80s)
