For you, personally, since you wish to match on book ID as the key rather than on a custom column as the key, simply create a temporary custom column of type INT, and use Calibre Search & Replace to copy ID to your temporary ID column. Import you CSV, match on tmp ID, then vary the "update column" as you please.
