Why surprised? It's not inconsistent at all.
For me, racism is/was always immoral: regardless of the time period; regardless of the social context. As per that conversation you're referring to, it's clear that not everyone feels the same about it (even though it is my opinion they are dead wrong). But isn't that the very essence of what I just said (that you quoted)?? It was, in fact, that exact past conversation about racism/immorality (though I remember it being more specifically about
slavery being immoral) that I had in mind when I posted it.
