There may be future concerns about ADE and DRM removal, but for now ADE DRM removal is possible from most sellers (Kobo, Google, ...) regardless of the version of ADE.
I'm using the latest ADE version (4.5.8 or something) and I've had no issues removing DRM from my purchases. I believe the problem emerges when using a Linux distro, though.
