There is a plugin I haven't used in several years called Manage Series. Looking the in the Index of Plugins thread, the blurb for it says: UI plugin that offers a GUI for drag/drop or keyboard shortcut based management of your series columns (supports multiple series columns).
Particularly useful if you want a fast way to renumber/reorder or rename large series and preview the result.
