Yeah actually everything was set: my home network configured, and updates prevented (both in KUAL and with the update.bin.tmp.partial directory).

As I said, though, I was in airplane mode. I set it off for a few minutes, let it connect, then put it back offline. Now CPU is not skyrocketing anymore. Go figure...
