Just to expound on the matter, reset doesn't actually remove the jailbreak. Installing/updating firmware will remove the jailbreak. Reset does remove the hotfix though, which is what makes sure the jailbreak gets copied to the correct location after a firmware update.

As you have noticed, the KUAL azw2 document no longer works on new firmware (5.9 and above). Now, every time the firmware updates, you'll have to reinstall KUAL along with your other add-ons.

If I were you though, I'd install the KUAL Helper+ add-on now, use the Prevent OTA Update option and keep firmware on 5.11 or older. It seems Amazon's getting nastier with regards to JB on 5.12 onwards.
