Look at pics in post #3.
With your tablet unlocked and connected to your PC, you need to swipe down and click on "Tap for other USB options". Then on the next screen select "Transfer Files".
This is why your PC is not recognizing files on your Fire.
This is the new Fire OS based on Android Nougat 7.1.2 and this is the only Fire to date where you have to select something other than the default charging...
