Asking what their upgrade did. This is the first reply

There is no functional difference on the Kindle 2 between software version 2.0 and 2.0.1.

Well, it didn't answer my question, so I emailed again, asking if there was no functional difference, what was the purpose of the software upgrade? And this is their reply:

Amazon Kindle support has been supplied with no information regarding this upgrade other than the information that was already provided. I apologize I am unable to provide further information regarding this.

If you have any further questions or if this email did not resolve the problem you encountered you may contact Kindle support directly through phone by calling 1-866-321-8851 or using the Contact Us option in the right-hand column of our Kindle Support pages at:"

So, sirbruce was correct.

But I still don't see it as a waste of time........I wanted an answer, and got it.

They either don't know what the fork they are doing, or don't care to publicize it.

I vote for the second option.
