B&N is probably the only online book store that is big enough to stand up to Amazon, and the only one besides Amazon that can really stand up to publishers. So I'm cautiously optimistic about the purchase overall. I wonder what will happen to the library program, though? It seems kind of underfunded so far. Would it be in B&N's interests to get into that market? I believe the library books all use Mobipocket, which Fictionwise might lose altogether. I could see Amazon deciding not to let a subsidiary of B&N sell Mobipocket books.
