Woolloomooloo.
Our TC Hamish has been downgraded to Category 3, and at this stage it looks like he's going to
turn back on himself. The "Watch" alert for our area has been removed, though we've still got the storm tides (on top of the spring tide). We went down to the woods at the rivermouth this morning. The tide has gone over the banks in some spots, and the sea is up, and the beach is closed and worn back to the rocks or the trees in spots (I took some pictures, just for the record).
Winds are gusty, but not bad at all. The rain is
on-again off-again. It looks pretty miserable, though
temperature-wise I'm still sitting 'round in my shorts. At the moment, I guess a lot of tourists here are uttering the phrase ""Sunshine Coast", my arse!".
Hopefully in a day or so the beach will re-open, because there could be some nice waves going (certainly the surfers are goin' nuts up at the points in the National Park). At the moment, it's
6' of storm-dumpers out the back, and only a couple of idiot tourists are swimming on Main Beach, no doubt watched by several binoc's from the watch-towers.
Cheers,
Marc
