For me, my favourite author would probably be the late, great Dave Duncan. I've read most of his books, own quite a few of them, liked almost all (there are a few exceptions) and have re-read a fair number.

There are a number of other authors I would put on my "favourites" list, for similar reasons as to Duncan. David & Leigh Eddings. Terry Brooks. Tad Williams. Raymond E. Feist. Jim Butcher. Katherine Kerr.

And there are others for whom I haven't read a lot of their output, but what I've read I really liked. Timothy Zahn, mostly for the first five Thrawn books (although I've also liked the first two Blackcollar books.) Alan Dean Foster for the Spellsinger series. There are others I'm sure.
