Flip phones are the future! I barely need a phone, but I need something for podcasts and audiobooks. I went for years with a flip phone and iPod Touch. Oh, but I also packed a decent compact camera. And a Kindle. 4 devices. In theory a smartphone replaces all of these but if anything I’m carrying more devices than ever.
I guess there is a place for audiobooks on Kindles, which is why Amazon restored that ability after a few years. Unlike an MP3 player, you don’t need a computer to load it up. I just wish they would add Immersion Reading to Kindle, and Plain Old text-to-speech.
