Eek! That's not anything I've ever had to deal with before. A brief search would suggest you're not nearly alone in that regard, though. I'd love to return the the favor, but it sounds like your best bet is a newer, somewhat cutting edge distro like Arch or Manjaro. I know that's not really helpful, sorry.
