Currently reading Kate Daniels series. It's very mediocre. The plot holes galore problem, they break their rule building often and all the silly little monsters fights makes it feel like a video game than an actually story series. The romance is not well done at all. And don't get me started on book six that just gets swept under the rug like it never happened. Oh as Kate starts off as this bad to the bone mercenary she turns into a whiny damsel in distress by the sixth book. The only reason I'm finishing it is once you skim the filler fight scenes out you can finish the book in under four hours and I'm behind on my reading challenge. The writing is very all over the place. Now world building is okay they borrow from alot of mythology and then twist it here and there and it's an interesting world.

The first book is disturbing but it's the only one like that. The rest are not as harsh or gritty. If you like comic books you'll like this series because that's basically what it is. Not much substance but full of actions and half done plots. I'm on Magic Shifts so just a couple more books to go. I've read much better Urban Fantasy series so if you can't get into it, your not alone.
