Generally both my mother and wife and most people I know, read a book only once, so not getting it back was never really much of an issue, unless you wanted to sell or were really keen to lend it to another person.

How exactly does sharing your password work? An account is linked to a device, not just password.

For US Amazon where you can do the Family account thing, yes. Most other places around the world are not yet so lucky last I checked. Family sharing is limited anyway.
