Slow connection - which mysteriously recovers

So, take a look at that picture. It's lying by the way. That's me trying to copy the "KoboReader.sqlite" file from the Glo HD to my hard drive. I've been waiting for about an hour, and it'll be another hour at least before it's done.

I connect the Glo HD on USB every week or two, and this happens every time. After the file copy is finished, I will open the file in an SQLite tool, compress and copy it back. That will take just a few seconds.

Thing is, after doing this, I have no problems. I can copy files back and forward, connect without issues in Calibre, everything's fine. I can even disconnect the USB, reconnect, and there will still be no issues.

I've tried several USB cables. No difference.

Basically, this is my procedure whenever I want to fire up Calibre:
- Connect via USB
- Copy the kobo db to my PC (>2 hours)
- Compress it
- Copy it back.
- Open Calibre.

Weird huh?
