Hmm, it may be the way imports are done (I haven't looked at that in a while). Try copying a KoboRoot.tgz with a SSH server into the .kobo directory and see if it applies the update. Also enable the ForceWifiOn option in the developer settings so it doesn't disconnect properly. Then, use OpenSSH or PuTTY to connect to the Kobo's IP and run 'echo usb plug add > /tmp/nickel-hardware-status', press the connect button, then run 'echo usb plug remove > /tmp/nickel-hardware-status'.
@NiLuJe, @davidfor, do you know anything about the way Kobo does imports (I don't have time to check myself right now)?
