It lets you know that the links are all valid, but it doesn't let you know if they're jumping to the proper location.

For example, you might have:

Link 2 accidentally jump to Footnote 3
Link 3 accidentally jump to Footnote 2

Reports/epubcheck would see no problems, but you would be able to catch the error by clicking on links.

Note: Of course, this could be mitigated by using meaningful IDs on your links too.

Side Note: Speaking of links in the newer Sigil, did the Right-Click > Copy Link Location ever happen? That would be so helpful when working on books with URLs pointing to external websites.
