I've needed to clean up numerous books over the years. Most often because of no/very bad table of contents or line breaks between each paragraph. This was due to the poor shape in which the books were sold rather than anything Calibre did during conversion.

I buy my books from Amazon and read on a Kobo. But even if I were a Kindle owner I would likely still wind up sideloading.
