I’m ok with them, I think they look nice, and they’re lovely and smooth. I do appreciate not getting fluff round the sides. I just find that I prefer having the screen a little recessed, for some illogical reason it makes it feel more like a book to me. Completely illogical, as of course a book page is as flush as they come.

Another reason though, is clarity. The text is usually clearer and bolder without the flush screen. That’s the case for my KOA2 when compared to my husband’s really older Paperwhite and my really new 2019 Basic. So that is a more proper and logical reason. It’s a slight preference only, not something I feel very passionately about. Saying that though, my old Voyage had nice dark text, almost as nice as the even older Kindle Keyboard.

In short, I’ve usually experienced the clearest text (not washed-out looking) on screens without the top layer.
