It's all a matter of trade-offs. The Oasis II/III has a bigger screen, faster processor, and a lot more LEDs. All of those things add to power consumption. The Oasis' bigger size and metal case also add weight. Thus, Amazon had to choose whether to make the Oasis II/III even heavier with a bigger battery, or keep it light with a smaller one. Whichever way they went, someone would have been disappointed. I suppose they could have done what they did with the Oasis I and added a battery case, perhaps making it available as a paid add-on so that customers could choose what they wanted...
