I don't need to be online all the time and the cost of smart phone + data plan seems like insanity to me. The very rare occasions when it would be truly helpful to be able to go online couldn't begin to offset that outlay. And how often am I in a situation where I couldn't find a hotspot if I wanted one?
And if I needed to bolster my stand there are all those people who are so wrapped up in their phones that they aren't in the moment. Talk about a horrible example.

The main reason I finally got a smartphone a couple years ago is to have access to email anytime, anywhere. Once I got it I did find myself using it for some other things, but I am still not one of those people glued to my phone. I have eaten in a restaurant with someone who was constantly checking their phone and it was incredibly annoying. Fortunately there was a third person there so we could talk to each other and gripe about the phone user
