I recommend to anyone to move away from Onyx. I have the Nova pro because I need a powerfull eReader, and this is the 8" most powerfull, but regarding to a bigger screens I am going to receive the new 13" Dasung monitor. Well, if you have a look at the Boyue subforum, you might not be very encouraged. There are some people who are very vociferous about how terrible their firmware is, saying that they're looking at Boox instead.

Most complaints there are about the note taking software, which may be why I have no particular problem with my Likebook Mars (although I also don't use the Boyue software for reading).

I understand your frustration re Android 4.4, them not going through with that is a bummer. I hope the current line up will hold up a bit better (although Marshmallow isn't the freshest anymore either...)
