Thanks (again?) to the person who mentioned
Chirp audiobooks' website, a month or two ago.
I found two or three audiobooks in my last email from them that I'd like to own.
A couple of weeks ago, there was a discussion, on another thread, about the
Oxford English Dictionary. Chirp is offering, at the present time, the book by Simon Winchester,
The Meaning of Everything, which is about the OED.
The blurb:
From a New York Times bestselling author comes the true account of the clever and surprisingly eccentric men who created the Oxford English Dictionary. Narrated by the author himself, The Boston Globe heralds this fascinating story as “devastatingly brilliant… Winchester makes words exciting.”
The narration runs a little over 7 hours. I listened to the sample of the audiobook that Chirp provideded, and the narration is good.
That discussion that we had piqued my interest in the OED, and makes this
$4.99 audiobook a must-buy for me.
You might want to do some vetting of your own.
To purchase or learn more about the audiobook, I suggest one of the following two approaches. First, you can navigate to
https://www.chirpbooks.com/deals. Select "Non-Fiction" in the horizontal menu near the top of the page. Scroll down until you see the information about the audiobook. Second, I haven't found a way to do a search of the site for a particular audiobook (without doing a specialized Google search); I recommend that you navigate to
Chirp's homepage, and scan over the entire selection, in order to find this audiobook.
