So here's the latest short story I'm working on. Inspired by this thread
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41562 and the images that popped into my mind (yes I'm strange that way

).
Here's a teaser:

Wabbit Season.
By PJ Lyon.
After the war?
There wasn’t much to be remembered, not many left to remember. Those who did?
Well they couldn’t remember much.
Those who didn’t? Well...
The sound of chanting rose into the yellow air above the scorched alligator lands of Florida. At first nothing more than a rumble, then a thunder, but soon enough--
‘Wabbit Season! Wabbit Season! Wabbit Season!’
An army on the march.
Raised on all that was left of the culture that came before them. Weaned on the last four minutes of a culture gone up in a cartoon poof of smoke. Loyal to a duck-god and his teachings. Despisers of the rabbit-god and all he stood for.
‘Wabbit Season! Wabbit Season! Wabbit Season!’
