Are there options other than ADE to get my kobo library books to my KA1? And, if so, what are they?
Is the kobo app viable? If so, how does it work with downloading just one particular book from the kobo library?
Thanks.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your question but if you're buying a book from the Kobo store you have four options:
- get it delivered direct to your Kobo via wi-fi. The book will be a kepub (probably with Kobo DRM). ADE not required.
- open Kobo Desktop on a PC (or Mac ???), make sure the new book is in the library, then connect your Kobo. Don't have calibre open at the same time. The new book will be transferred automatically. It will be a kepub (probably with Kobo DRM). ADE not required.
- open Kobo.com in your browser and login. You will have an option to download the new book as standard epub. This is where you would need ADE if it's a DRM'd epub. Sorry to be a bit vague here but it's not an option I use myself.
- open Kobo Desktop on a PC (or Mac ???), make sure the new book has arrived in the library. Close Kobo Desktop. Then open calibre and use one of Apprentice Alf's tools (not the Amazon/Adobe one) to transfer the new book from the Kobo Desktop library into calibre, removing any Kobo DRM in the process. ADE not required.
Which method are you trying to use?
