Not true with the Kobo Forma that I'm using. See this thread where jackie_w figured it out. If I select a font from the Aa menu it uses it for
everything. The only way I get the embedded fonts is to select Publisher Default. Sucks because I'd rather have it the way it works for you.

I just noticed jackie_w's ETA; so if I understand it correctly it does what I see because all of my sideloads are kepub since I'm using the enhanced driver.
