I don't need to go to Kobo's website in a browser to complete the borrowing process. The book is automagically synced to my ereader whether I borrow through the library website, browsing on my ereader or using the Overdrive application on whatever device I'm using it on.

I don't believe you need to go to Amazon's website to complete the borrowing process, either. The books are sent to the Kindle cloud where they can be downloaded to any Kindle that is attached to the account.
