Personally I read without the frontlight during the day/in well-lit rooms.
If Gary Coleman taught me anything, it's that the world don't move to the beat of just one drum. What might be right for you, may not be right for some.

As long as you can set it to a level that's comfortable for you, you're good.

Personally, I leave the light set at 25% at all times. Works for me, light or dark, and I don't like futzing with it.
