client.pem looks like a normal ssh key but from what I see it contains the device serial number, motherboard number, etc.

Use OpenSSL to convert to human readable text.
OpenSSL is already installed on Kindles (their communications apps use it).

If not an OpenSSL command line expert, ask your favorite search engine how the command is formatted.
