Darzin - we just read it differently, which I understand happens occasionally here

I had the impression at the time that Bod specifically placed Scarlett there because he wanted to lure Jack to Sleer. I returned the book so can’t double check, but thought Scarlett actually used the word bait herself - that’s how she perceived his actions. But ‘bait’ might have just been my own injection

However as you point out, he was only 15 and in the midst of a catastrophe. I wouldn’t want to give the impression I was down on Bod - I quite liked him. He was an admirable young man, and I REALLY wish we’d had a bit more about how he was making out in the land of the living.
