No magic bullets, but there are a number of threads in the
Workshop forum that discuss alternative PDF conversion methods and tools.
The current versions of Acrobat and Word can do an excellent job on some PDF's. I recently converted a bunch of complex BCG and Rand PDFs to DOCX and then EPUB that I didn't need to edit in any substantial way.
