Now that I prefer azw3, I always download the epub for conversion. I learned this was preferable in a Calibre thread. Unfortunately, I've noticed there are many books not available in epub in mobileread's library. For example, I was recently looking for an English version of Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tales; while there are German versions in epub there was no English translation, so I had to download the prc format.

I've found this to be the case with quite a few books.
