I agree, Deskisamess. It was even called "experimental". I was very clear with the Amazon customer service guy I chatted with. I wanted to know if Amazon had turned off open browsing or is there was some kind of fix. Those poor guys certainly don't know. He asked several times if I was speaking of a tablet -- a Kindle Fire. The guy was probably in grade school when they were released!
