My new "hearing amplifiers" arrived from Amazon yesterday. I've never worn hearing aids before even though I've had some hearing loss for years, the result of spending a lot of time in a noisy engine room whilst serving in the Navy.

At any rate I was anxious to see what it was like to actually hear things without having to turn the volume to level 9. It's amazing! There is so much going on in the world that I was completely oblivious to. Birds singing, the refrigerator buzzing, the kitties meowing in the next room, the HVAC positively roaring, the clock on the bathroom wall tick tocking away, and so much more.

The tinnitus is still there, but it's volume remains the same as before, so compared to actual NOISE I can now hear it's so much less, I think I'm gonna like being able to hear.

There is some down side, like having to fumble with those tiny batteries, my own voice startling the hell out of me, the cacophony of mouth breathing, and the rattling of my keyboard; but I believe it to be a small price.
